The person behind the pixels
Hi, I’m Shawna. I’m a designer with 8 years of experience working across in-house marketing teams, web agencies, tech teams, and freelance projects.
I’m friendly, approachable, and always happy to jump in wherever I can help. I love getting stuck into projects, whether that means designing something from scratch, bringing it to life with animation, editing a video, or getting my hands dirty with some front-end code.
Whatever the project, I care about making things look great, feel engaging, stay on brand, and actually work.

A few favourites
A few projects I’ve had the most fun working on over the years, across design, animation, video, and web.
eSentire Sales Kick-Off Video
Our Creative Director shaped and edited the audio, and our Senior Graphic Designer contributed some of the visual concepts. I brought everything together through animation, editing, and motion design, turning the different pieces into one cohesive and high-energy video.
We took inspiration from the Mission: Impossible trailers, incorporating some of that cinematic energy while keeping the visuals and storytelling grounded in the eSentire brand.
It was a really fun project to work on, and the best part was seeing it land with the audience. The video got a standing ovation at the event and definitely helped get everyone hyped for what was ahead.
Solution Briefs, Reports & More for Cynomi
While working part-time with Cynomi as a freelance designer, I’ve had the opportunity to create a wide range of branded reports, solution briefs, feature sheets, and other marketing materials.
A lot of these projects came with the challenge of fitting a surprising amount of information into just one or two pages. I actually enjoy that part of the process. It’s a bit like a jigsaw puzzle: figuring out how to balance copy, images, and branding without making the page feel crowded or overwhelming.
I work closely with the requester throughout the process to make sure the most important information gets the attention it deserves, while still making sure everything that needs to be there fits within the space.
Here are a few examples of PDFs I’ve created for Cynomi:
Burning Questions Report | Cynomi for Private Equity | AI in Cynomi | Cynomi and SPECTRA

Cynomi New Website Announcement
This was a particularly fun one because I had the opportunity to create a lot of custom animation to showcase their new website. They came to me with the initial idea and gave me the freedom to run with it, which let me experiment with the animation and really bring the concept to life.
My goal was to make the piece feel engaging and energetic while keeping everything consistent with the Cynomi brand.
SaskPower Meter Campaign
I worked on this campaign for SaskPower while freelancing with Brown Communications, creating a range of materials across print, outdoor, and digital.
I created this print ad within SaskPower’s established brand guidelines, making sure it felt fresh while staying consistent with the other campaign materials running at the time. I also helped create animations for the campaign, along with door hangers, billboards, and annual reports.
Each format came with its own set of challenges, but the goal was always the same: keep everything feeling cohesive and unmistakably SaskPower, no matter where the work appeared.

Cyber Resilience Animation
I also used the project as an opportunity to experiment with some new animation techniques, including animated gradient strokes on the lettering and morphing one word into another.
The final piece was designed to be displayed without sound, so music wasn’t an option. I think a soundtrack could have added another layer to the experience, but I focused on making sure the visuals and animation could carry the story on their own.
Versabadge Explainer Video
After creating an animation for Versabadge to showcase how their technology works in a hospital setting, I got the opportunity to take that work a step further and create this video.
Versabadge reached out after seeing the animation and asked if I could help bring their larger video concept together. They provided the voiceover, music, and a Word document outlining what they wanted to see in each scene. From there, we worked through a few rounds of feedback to make sure the story and visuals were heading in the right direction.
One of my favourite parts of the project was finding a way to repurpose the animation I had already created for their website. It was a fun piece to make, so I was excited to give it a second life in a completely different format. They also had lots of creative ideas they wanted to incorporate, which made pulling everything together into one cohesive video a fun challenge.
